Plans to relax visa regulations for foreign workers could help to boost the property market in Brazil. As the country looks forward to hosting the World Cup and then later in 2016 the Rio Olympics officials are looking at ways of filling gaps in the labour market by making it easier for overseas experts to relocate to Brazil.

At the moment current rules mean that immigrants must wait months for their visa applications to be processed but the new rules will cut the number of documents required and people will be able to apply online for a visa ahead of arriving in the country. Young people from Spain and Portugal, where unemployment numbers are extremely high, are expected to flock to the country for jobs and experts believe the resulting influx of workers to the country will help to boost the Brazilian real estate market. During the last twelve months international real estate investors have turned to Brazil and house prices across the country have risen by more than 13 per cent as a result.
