The nine-year plan to promote the Bradford Center was unveiled at a Council meeting.
Over the next decade, a new movie production center for the city, better road and rail connections, and a “rethinking” of Thornton Road University and college will appear on the maps. The Bradford City Plan also brings together paid plans for the converted Odeon, the restored St. George Hall, the new city center and retail academy. The city center will be maintained in accordance with “the highest standards”, with more private and commercially sponsored events and facilities.
But while reducing public sector funds, the plan emphasizes the important role of the private sector.
Bradford Council Leader David Green said: “We need a city plan, as the Council will continue to have an important leadership and regulatory role in many projects, it is likely that more will be provided through partners and the private sector, as public sector funding is reduced .
“This is a ten-year plan, and it will be adapted to make progress.”
The plan will focus on five key locations: the “Independent Quarter” at the top of the city, Forster Square and the Cathedral, the “Learning Quarter” of Thornton Road, the City Park shopping and cultural cluster and the city center shopping and entertainment center.
It emphasizes the need to find new applications for vacant buildings, including the return of old buildings, as well as the revitalization of the street and the construction of new houses.
The plan was drawn up by the council with the assistance of organizations such as Bradford College, Bradford University, the Metro Transport Center and the lobby and network groups Bradford Breakthrough and Bradford Matters .
